Private Canoe Trips,
West Coast of Scotland
Travelling by canoe is one of the finest ways to explore the wild waterways of Scotland. Whether you are out for a few hours, or a few days, you will quickly leave your cares behind. Your guide, Leon, is a qualified ecologist, an experienced professional bushcraft survival instructor, and a canoe leader.
He can provide short canoe trips on Loch Ailort in Moidart. This is one of the most beautiful Scottish sea lochs, surrounded by mountains, forest and studded with small islands. He can lend his unique perspective on the wildlife, bushcraft, and exploration of the area. You can visit caves, explore isolated sandy beaches, stunning ancient woodland and maybe even see an otter (the subject of Leon's PhD research).
Please contact us to discuss your requirements and arrange a date, then once agreed, book using the link below.
Activities
You may be happy to just paddle one of our wild landscapes by canoe - looking out for wildlife on the way. However, if you want to add some land-based activities to your session we can provide the following:
-
Fire lighting with sparks
-
Coastal foraging - shellfish, fish and seaweed
-
Cooking on the campfire
-
Trees, plants and fungi, their uses in bushcraft, what you can and can't eat!
-
Tracking and wildlife
-
Mountain or hill trekking (we are providers for the National Navigation Award Scheme and Leon is a Mountain Leader)
As an example, we can take you on a Scottish island survival adventure, build a campfire and cook a foraged lunch on a quiet sandy beach looking out across the loch to the small isles.
On a multi-day trip we can combine mountain journeys with canoeing as per our Mountain Loch Adventure.
Please contact us for details.
