Winter is not the season when most people think of heading to the woods to learn or improve bushcraft skills. However, in many ways it can be the most rewarding time.
Because it is a challenging time in terms of the weather and food our bushcraft skills are really put to the test.
On this weekend course we draw on our Arctic experience, as well as experience of UK winters, to focus on issues specific to this time of year
While this course is open to the adventurous beginners it is also an excellent course for those with some bushcraft experience who want to further and test their skills.
By the end of the weekend you will have learnt about the following subjects:
We suggest that you bring a tent, tarp or hammock shelter, four season sleeping bag and food, though you can test yourself as much as you want by spending a night in a shelter without a sleeping bag or mat. Gortex bivvy bags are available for hire at £10 for the weekend.
This course is a great precursor for an Arctic Expedition such as the one we run annually in Northern Sweden!
"It was excellent and I never felt I couldn't ask questions to fully understand the content of the course. A great course and still taking in all that was learnt a week later" - J. Pragnell
"Interesting and skillfully taught as ever. Leon is really good showing you something and allowing you to then try things for yourself and make mistakes. He is not always butting in to show you the way it should be done after 2 minutes which helps you gain skills and experience. Great funin the snow and mud! A great weekend with great people" - D. Hussey
"I loved the fact I asked Leon if he could go over knife sharpening as an extra and he was more than happy to give us a great demonstration. I had a brilliant time. I have also documented my weekend on a couple of forums I take part in, and in fact 2 members have been in contact already (or so they say) to enquire about courses. Keep up the great work." - S. Jackson
