Family Bushcraft Day

Spend a Fun Day Learning Bushcraft Skills with your Family

This is a great introductory day to bushcraft for families. Have a go at firelighting (including fire by friction and sparking); learn knot-work for tarps; collect and purify water and build a woodland shelter.

The course is designed around parents/guardians accompanying their children. The family bushcraft day course takes place in a beautiful and diverse ancient woodland adjoining the Ashdown Forest in Sussex, or for private bookings at an available venue of your choice.

Learning Outcomes

 

Here are some of the key skills you will be learning:

 ​​

  • how to build a leaf shelter

  • how to find water and make it safe

  • about the basic principles of responsible fire lighting and fuel collection

  • to light a fire with sparks and/or bow drill

  • how to recognise some of the plants that can provide food and other valuable materials

Location: Nutley in Sussex or private courses elsewhere

 

Duration:  1 day 09.00 - 17.00

Group size: usually 5-15 people 

Facilities: Drinking water, hot drinks, tarp, latrine
